Inspired by London 2012
The work of the FSC at View Tube has been granted the Inspire mark by the London 2012 Inspire programme which recognises innovative and exceptional projects that are directly inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
With views from the classroom, across the ever changing Olympic and Paralympic Park, visiting students are able to feel part of the changes taking place, considering issues including sustainability, regeneration and the practicalities of delivery of such a large scale event.
Seb Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games said: ’FSC at View Tube is encouraging secondary school students to fulfil their potential. I am proud that with the help of partners such as the Field Studies Council we are delivering our vision to use the power of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games to boost participation in built environment education .’
FSC London East has also been successful in applying to become part of the Mayor's 2012 Education Programme. The programme is aimed at organisations working outside the formal education system and uses the power of the London 2012 to motivate people of all ages to take part in ‘lifelong learning’ opportunities.
As one of the closest buildings to the site, it is fantastic for the FSC at View Tube to have been recognised by both these programmes and reflects our commitment to education both now and as part of the legacy of London 2012.
