Aquatic Plant Identification Advanced

For those with some knowledge of aquatic and marginal plants who wish to learn the more critical groups, such as the water crowfoots, duckweeds, pondweeds, starworts, aquatic grasses, sedges and rushes, stoneworts and aquatic liverworts. It also tackles the growing list of alien aquatic plants that are devastating our ponds and waterways and considers ways of controlling them. Extensive illustrated synoptic keys provided. Recommended reading: British Water Plants by Haslam, Sinker and Wolsey. FSC. 1982. The Beginner's Aquatic Plants course available on 19 July provides an introduction to this course.

This Aquatic Plants ID Advanced course will run from 09.30 to 17.00 and includes lunch at a local public house.

Transport required for field sites visits.

Ken Adams is BSBI and Essex Field Club: Higher Plant, Fern and Bryophyte recorder for Essex. He co-authored the second Flora of Essex (1974) and is working on a third Flora of the county.
