Field Studies Council: Bringing Environmental Understanding to All

Identifying Centipedes, Millipedes and Woodlice

  • Non-Resident: £240
  • Sole Occupancy: £337
  • Shared Room: £307

This long weekend course is for anyone who would like to learn about the key identification features, natural history and ecology of centipedes and millipedes (which are myriapods) and woodlice (which are isopods).

Field excursions to local habitats will introduce a range of techniques for finding and collecting specimens. You will also be introduced to the key features used in field identification of species.

Additional sessions back at the Centre will provide the opportunity to become familiar with the identification keys available and will be flexible enough to meet the needs of those with either amateur or professional interests.

This is an accredited course linked to the University of Birmingham Certificate in Biological Recording and Species Identification (full 10 credits). You may therefore have your learning assessed if you wish.

The content is appropriate for anyone wishing to contribute to their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.
