Clovers and their allies form an extensive plant family, with many species important for wildlife and in agricultural and horticultural contexts as well. This short course will help you master the challenges of identifying a wide range of species accurately.
We will look carefully at the different parts of clover, medick and vetch flowers to appreciate their structure and function. Then using similarities and differences between them, you’ll be able to develop a good working knowledge of different species in the family and learn how to use a flora to track down unknown species.
Visits to local nature reserves and other flower-rich sites each day will be complemented by identification sessions in the evenings.
Ros Bennett is a freelance botanist and former member of FSC staff with extensive experience of this more difficult group of plants.
