This short course introduces the identification, life histories, behaviour and conservation of dragonflies and damselflies. Field excursions are complemented by indoor activities using a comprehensive collection of photographs and specimens of these beautiful and fascinating insects.
Designed for amateur naturalists, university students and countryside professionals it is also suitable for anyone involved in biological recording schemes at a local or county level.
This is an accredited course linked to the University of Birmingham Certificate in Biological Recording and Species Identification (half 10 credits). Towards the end of the course you may therefore have your learning assessed, if you wish.
The content is also appropriate for anyone wishing to contribute to their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.
Steve Cham is a national co-ordinator of the UK Dragonfly Recording Network and a regular leader of this course at Flatford Mill.
