Field Studies Council: Bringing Environmental Understanding to All

Special Spring Moths

  • Non-Resident: £255
  • Shared Room: £290
  • Sole Occupancy: £340

The Scottish Highlands provide an exciting start to the moth season. Nationally scarce species such as the spectacular Rannoch Sprawler, the delightful Rannoch Brindled Beauty and Sword-Grass can only be seen at this time of year and are restricted to this area. Electric observation lights will be operated in the grounds of Kindrogan and in 2011 attracted 26 species including many stunning forms of Clouded Drab and Hebrew Character. Illustrated talks along with help and advice on identification and recording will help develop your skills.

David Brown is the Warwickshire County Recorder for Lepidoptera and the author of The Larger Moths of Warwickshire. He has led courses at FSC Centres over a number of years. A lecturer at Birmingham and Warwick Universities Extramural and Open Studies departments for the past 20 years, he is an active field entomologist.
