Identification of Bats

  • Non-Resident: £235
  • Shared Room: £304
  • Sole Occupancy: £334

This course provides an introduction to the fascinating world of bats and the ways of detecting and identifying the British species. Through laboratory and outdoor sessions students will learn about bat behaviour, ecology and conservation. Identification skills will be developed through examination of preserved (and possibly live) specimens and use of keys. There will be evening walks (on and off site) with bat detectors, looking and listening for bats, a daytime survey for potential bat roosts and a dawn visit to a local roost.

Rebecca Collins is a licensed bat worker with a love of ecology and conservation. She runs an Environmental Consultancy and is an experienced field ecologist and co-ordinator of Herefordshire Mammal Group.
