This course will concentrate on the shield bugs (Hemiptera) and ladybirds (Coleoptera), two groups readily identified in the field but often under-recorded by field naturalists. Both groups can be identified in most of their life stages with a bit of practice and can be found in many habitats with a bit of prior ecological knowledge.
We will combine classroom sessions with field trips to some of Shropshire's best sites in search of these two groups of fascinating insects.
Pete Boardman is Invertebrate Challenge Project Officer for the FSC and has been keenly involved in entomology for the last 15 years in Shropshire.
