Field Studies Council: Bringing Environmental Understanding to All

Identifying Sedges and Sedge-like Plants

  • Non-Resident: £235
  • Shared Room: £304
  • Sole Occupancy: £334

Sedges Identification is often lumped together with grasses and rushes as dull and difficult and this course seeks to show that this is not the case. Although there are few rare species in the county there is a variety of habitats, including mere, fen, limestone, flush and grassland sites, thus making Shropshire a good area for seeing a range of common sedge species. Over this weekend you will learn the difference between these groups and how to identify sedge species with the use of keys.

Chris Walker is a botanist and ecologist with a wide experience of the plants and habitats of Shropshire and has had over 12 years’ experience in running this particular course for Preston Montford.
