This course is designed to introduce students to field bryology and will include teaching familiarity with the characteristics of the main groups of mosses and liverworts and basic identification of common species. There will be a mixture of fieldwork (with guidance on how to collect, observe and record in the field) and laboratory sessions, plus talks on identification, use of keys and microscopy.

Martin Godfrey is an ecological consultant and experienced field botanist and naturalist. He has worked for many organisations involved in conservation and biological recording including the British Bryological Society and the University of Birmingham.
