Geography A Level Edexcel

These courses have been specifically developed for those studying AS geography, following the Edexcel specification, to enable teachers to quickly and easily book a residential fieldtrip, safe in the knowledge that it will be directly related to work taught in the classroom and will contribute to achieving Edexcel specification requirements.

Achieving Edexcel specification requirements

Fieldwork is compulsory in Edexcel AS Unit 2 (Geographical Investigations). This unit is assessed in a 1 hour and 30 minutes exam with two sections. Students answer one physical management question from Section A and one human management question from Section B. Each question will include the assessment of investigation and evaluation skills.

  • Physical topics: EITHER Extreme Weather OR Crowded Coasts
  • Human topics: EITHER Unequal Spaces OR Rebranding Places

 

Extreme Weather, Geographical Investigations1 day

Student's will create a weather diary using a variety of qualitative and quantities ways to assess the weather. The relationship between land-use and flood risk will be investigated through infiltration and interception experiments and students will model a storm event using storm simulator plots.

Unequal Spaces, Geographical Investigations1 day

Students will compare locations, using a variety of sources of data including census data and observations of environmental and housing quality. A study into the inequalities of the local area will include research into access to services and how groups within society are excluded due to factors such as income, age and health. Students will gain an understanding of how inequality studies, using a mixture of qualitative and quantitative techniques, can be undertaken.
