IB Diploma Geography
FSC has developed specific fieldwork courses for theInternal Assessment element of IB Diploma Geography. These courses are designed to meet the IB syllabus requirements whilst offering the most cost effective way of visiting an FSC Centre.
Achieving IB Diploma syllabus requirements for Geography
Fieldwork is a compulsory part of the Internal Assessment at both Standard Level and Higher Level. This is assessed in the form of a written report of a maximum of 2,500 words. This contributes 25% of the assessment at Standard Level and 20% at Higher Level and should occupy approximately 20 hours of teaching time.
A five day FSC IB Diploma Geography course will deliver all the fieldwork and write up needed for the Internal Assessment.
IB Diploma Geography courses:
Internal Assessment: fieldwork, research and data presentation3 day
Students will research and undertake fieldwork in an appropriate environment in order to start to prepare their 2,500 word report for IB Diploma Geography. The fieldwork will be based on one topic option from a choice of four. This short course will cover the preparation, research, planning, data collection, data processing and data presentation aspects of the IB Diploma Geography Internal Assessment.

Students will research and undertake fieldwork in an appropriate environment in order to complete their 2,500 word report for IB Diploma Geography. The fieldwork will be based on one topic option from a choice of four. This course will cover all aspects of the Internal Assessment and will produce a finished report to take back to school or college in electronic or paper format.
In addition students will undertake one full day's case study on a second topic for the Optional Themes in Part 2 of the IB Diploma Geography syllabus. This will be based on a choice of six options. The case study day will also equip students with the skills needed to justify, analyse, conclude and evaluate, in preparation for their Internal Assessment.

Students will research and undertake fieldwork in an appropriate environment in order to start to prepare their 2,500 word report for IB Diploma Geography. The fieldwork will be based on one topic option from a choice of four. This short course will cover the preparation, research, planning, data collection, data processing and data presentation aspects of the Internal Assessment.
In addition, students will undertake one full day to support the IB Diploma Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) requirements. Through outdoor activities designed to enhance their creativity and ability to think critically, students will have the opportunity to explore the experiential learning cycle and develop skills needed to take part in volunteering projects. Students can be provided with contacts to environmental projects within 22 Local Authorities within the UK.
