Field Studies Council - Flatford Millvirtual tour by eyerevolutionReturn to Flatford Mill home page FSC Flatford Mill has four separate accommodation buildings, each with secure access through keys or electronic keypads. In total these offer 13 single or twin rooms and a further 12 rooms each containing between 3 and 10 beds. There are no ensuite rooms at present, although a major upgrade to make more than half the rooms ensuite will commence in 2011. There are four workrooms each with whiteboards, ceiling-mounted data projectors, interactive whiteboard facilities and internet access for wi-fi enabled laptops. The Library / Common Room has a suite of 10 desktop PCs with direct internet access, plus additional laptops with wi-fi access. There is an outdoor games field close to the Centre buildings, plus a wide range of indoor games available to borrow. Hot and cold drinks facilities are available in each workroom and in most accommodation areas. The dining room has a bar with a dinner licence. Other facilities include a Centre shop and a weatherproof equipment store. The Centre is at the end of a low-use public highway, with the buildings attractively arranged alongside the River Stour. The seven hectares of grounds include riverside and lake margins, woodland and grassland, all connected by circular walks. There is a productive kitchen garden; a weather station; quiet areas with picnic benches and a bird ringing site, operated most weekends. |
